Roy strongly believes in giving back to the community.  Toward that end, he has judged local high school mock trial tournaments for the past 10 years, and is now coaching a high school mock trial team.  He is also serving as in-house counsel for the Homeowners’ Association of his condo community.

In addition, Roy has served for the past decade as a cooperating attorney for the Nassau and Suffolk County Chapters of the NYCLU.  In that capacity, in 2003 he won a precedent-setting appeal establishing citizens’ rights to videotape the public meetings of local school boards.   See Csorny v. Shoreham-Wading River,  ___AD2d___, Appellate Division, Second Department [NYLJ, May 20, 2003] in which Roy succeeded in obtaining reversal on appeal of an adverse lower court decision.
Roy recently joined the Board of Directors of the Nassau Chapter of the ACLU, and he is available to speak to local community and student groups on a wide variety of civil liberties issues.
